Healthcare Program

Healthcare

Hiranmoy Dasgupta Foundation’s journey began with Golden Hospital at Palwal which is small district in Haryana and surrounded by over 100 villages, and healthcare remains a key area of focus to this day. The foundation leverages the expertise of the Golden Hospital team in areas such as women’s reproductive health, tuberculosis, HIV, and cancer, and works towards raising awareness about preventing and managing these diseases.

While Haryana’s maternal mortality rate remains low at 127 per 100,000 births compared to India’s average of 167 per year, the state aims to reduce it to consistently remain at below 70 per 100,000 births by 2030.
Hiranmoy Dasgupta Foundation is working to generate awareness on women’s reproductive health with the help of its partner, Golden Hospital, which is located in Palwal. Golden Hospital gynecologist Dr. Vandana assists unprivileged women who are suffering from different types of reproductive health diseases such as Syphillis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HPV, and genital herpes. Dr. Vandana initiates treatment with a comprehensive medical examination and then follows up with free treatment, if needed. This program covers medical checkups, treatment and medical investigation. Dr. Vandana starts the doctor-patient relationship by informing upfront that the examination and follow up treatments are free so that the patients feel confident about being proactive about their heath and being serious about being cured. As a result, our patient intake is overwhelming.

In Haryana, there were 1,706 recorded cases of tuberculosis in 2015. The state’s goal is to reduce this to 427 cases by 2030. An important element of this effort would be to raise awareness on Direct Observed Therapy (“DOT”) which is one of the successful treatment initiated by WHO.
With the help of Golden Hospital doctors and their team, TB Awareness information is provided to outdoor patients to educate them about tuberculosis prevention. Foundation is continuing their effort to reach out the unreached population, Educate local and underserved population on Multiple Drug Resistant during Tuberculosis Awareness Seminar, Spreading awareness on Nutritional Diet and Hygiene. Foundation conduct TB day which is observed by doctors, local people and TB survivor on 24th March every year.

Hiranmoy Dasgupta Foundation organizes regular free medical camp through the Golden Hospital. The camp activities include routine check-up by qualified doctors. Based on physician analysis, if patient needs further medical investigation, the camp provides investigation and treatment facilities as well.

While Haryana’s reported rate of HIV prevalence, at 0.13%, is lower compared to the national average of 0.26%, the aim is to reduce this to 0.05% to 2030. Hiranmoy Dasgupta foundation is working on an HIV Awareness Campaign to spread awareness about this life-threatening disease. We are working with the local village communities in the Palwal district and spreading awareness on the importance of sex education. Our focus is to train and educate young children and male population of the area and to encourage open discussion on safe sex. Additionally, a group of HMDG volunteers encourage the local villagers to talk about their sexual health problems in private, and if the volunteers feel that medical assistance is needed for diagnosis or medication, they enlist the help of Golden Hospital doctors and pathologists.

Hiranmoy Dasgupta Foundation puts special emphasis on generating and spreading cancer awareness. We are still working at the grassroots level and trying to spread awareness on healthy diet and healthy living. We are running this program through Golden Hospital and are conducting awareness generating event once a month to counsel existing and new out-patients and to spread the awareness through them in their villages and promote healthy diet and healthy living. We are encouraging them with open discussion on food and exercise. We are aiming to upgrade this program with various features including, diagnosis, and treatment in upcoming time.
